Objective:
Investigate and analyze the Lovell Beach House through multiple studies such as program, spatial relationships, formal development, materiality and tectonics.

History:

Dating from 1926, the Lovell Beach House was Rudolph’s Shindlers most important building it is a precursor of post-war brutalist design. It was built out of concrete. The house is lifted above its beach site and cradled in five concrete frames. The play of forms in the advancing and receding planes are related to the De Stijil movement that began in Holland in 1917.
